Types of Graves at St. Rochus Cemetery

Why is a grave at a cemetery important?

A personal grave provides a place for loved ones to remember the deceased. It allows for individual farewells and helps the bereaved learn to cope with their grief.

Depending on the chosen type of burial (earth or urn burial), there are various types of graves available at St. Rochus Cemetery:

  • Double-depth earth grave with a flat headstone for two burials or up to six urns

  • Double-depth earth grave with an upright headstone for two burials or up to six urns (planting permitted)

  • Niche for two urns in a columbarium wall

Please refer to the current schedule of fees on our website for pricing information.

St. Rochus Cemetery is a protected historical monument due to its 500-year history and unique character.

Therefore, certain regulations must be observed by grave holders:

The maintenance and restoration of the gravestones may only be carried out by an approved specialist company and requires an application through the monument protection authority.

The restoration or new creation of an epitaph can be commissioned through approved specialist companies.

The bronze plaques (epitaphs) tell the story of the graves and remain as lasting testaments on the gravestones. A personal name can be added either through a new epitaph or by updating an existing one.

For further regulations, please refer to the tombstone ordinance and the monument preservation requirements contained therein.
